Question: If there is a listing written as Suchandsuch and Soandso, where two different individuals are co-owners of items listed, how does one key that? Would there be two records keyed, as in "(Blank) Suchandsuch" and "(Blank) Soandso" to capture both names? --Mabnightowl (talk) 15:35, 22 December 2016 (MST)

A: You are correct, please key as two separate records. Thank you! --mccallapeterson (talk)
I suspected as much, but every project can have its quirks and idiosyncrasies. Thank you. --Mabnightowl (talk) 14:00, 23 December 2016 (MST)

Question: How are we to key heirs? I have it written three different ways. 1. Hood George Heirs 2. Hood Heirs of George 3. Hood Heirs --816spider (talk) 12:33, 23 December 2016 (MST)

My opinion, because of the way many projects work: George Hood would be keyed in the first and second examples, as well as a record of "(Blank) Hood." Two records total, in other words, for each entry. In the third example, it would have to be keyed as "(Blank) Hood." Mind you, I was not involved in making the rules for this particular project, so it may need to be handled differently. Hopefully someone who knows the project better will answer you. If not, you can try asking on the forum, at U.S. Records - Other. --Mabnightowl (talk) 14:00, 23 December 2016 (MST)
A: You are correct. For the first two examples depending on the project you may enter heirs as the prefix (depending on project specific instructions).

Question: I am confused as to why, in the question about heirs, why we would put this as a prefix. Heirs refers to the person who inherited something and is neither a prefix or a suffix. Please clarify.

A: Entering "heirs" is helpful in capturing the family information. From a search aspect if we enter Heirs in the prefix field it can be searched in the keyword field.

Question: Are we to key in companies if they are listed? If so not sure how it should be entered.

A: Businesses can be ignored when listed. Thanks! --mccallapeterson (talk)

Q: If the names are written as MCurley, MCready, and MCreary, are we inferring the 'c'. There is nothing between the M and C.

A: Please key the surname as seen on the image, nothing should be inferred. Thank you! --mccallapeterson (talk)
The question has been asked how M'Cleary should be keyed. Generally you can determine that it is a little c vs an apostrophe - in these cases key McCleary into the surname field.Annafechter (talk) 13:13, 13 June 2017 (MDT)

Q: Are lists with the heading "Military Fines AD 1855" keyed ?

A: Yes, this image is considered a "Register" and names should be keyed.

Q: Should we key names that appear to be crossed out? There is a diagonal line through the given and then surname that looks to be striking it out.

A: Yes, it should be keyed unless it has been replaced with another name, in which case you would key that instead. --Katerimmer (talk) 02:02, 2 October 2017 (MDT)

Q: Are we keying widow as a prefix?

A: No. --Wiedwoman (talk) 20:33, 1 November 2017 (MDT)

Q:Both a cover page and a register on the same image. If we have this happen, should we select the Register form?

A: Yes, select the Register form.
