Can anyone tell me when tintypes were made as I have two and would love to know. The girls are alike and long dresses deplicting early years and I have no idea who they are as they were in my grandmother's old purse.

How to preserve tintypes?

Does anyone know how to preserve the tintype photos? I have several and they have been passed down through a few generations in an old shoe box. But there must be a better way. Does anyone know?
