I just looked up my parents on the new 1940 Census, and was shocked by the number of egregious transcription errors I saw on the page as I looked for my grandparents. I was only looking at names, not the other data, and found 15 obvious mistakes in 40 lines. I have been keying for the WAP (World Archive Project) for a long time, and have an "excellent" rating, so I sort of know what I am talking about.

Admittedly, my sample was small, and I hope, not representative of the keying quality as a whole for this Census. I know it wasn't done by WAP -- but Ancestry didn't get its money's worth from whomever was paid to do this page.--Collier smith 06:04, 7 August 2012 (UTC)
