Portage is a county in Wisconsin. It was formed in 1836 from the following counties: Brown/Crawford/Iowa/Milwaukee. Portage began keeping birth records in 1866, marriage records in 1848, and death records in 1876. It began keeping land records in 1841, probate records in 1837, and court records in 1844.
