The Hawaii State Public Library System has an online catalog to libraries in the state www.librarieshawaii.org. This is an excellent tool for gaining quick access to records and learning where they may be deposited. The Hawaii GenWeb Project provides links and addresses to genealogical and historical societies and repositories, and current information on genealogy for the state www.rootsweb.com/~higenweb/hawaii.htm. Another good resource is the encyclopedic Directory of Historical Records Repositories in Hawaii (Honolulu: Association of Hawaiian Archivist and the Hawaiian Historical Society, 1999), which is updated every few years.
