Periodicals
Washington History, formerly the Records of the Columbia Historical Society (first published in 1897 and changed titles in 1989) is the journal of the local historical society of the District of Columbia. See pages 9-10 for periodicals of a national scope that are published in the District of Columbia area.
Newspapers
The Washingtoniana Division of the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library has a microfilm collection of all major daily newspapers for the District of Columbia dating from 1800 to the present. They have indexes for the Washington Post (1971-present) and the Washington Star (1906–70).
