Clayton is a county in Mississippi. It was formed in 1871 (as Colfax; renamed 1876) from the following county/ies: Chickasaw/Lowndes/Oktibbeha. Clayton began keeping birth records in ——, marriage records in 1872, and death records in ——. It began keeping land records in 1872, probate records in 1872, and court records in 1872.
