Arizona Highways (published by Arizona Department of Transportation) and Journal of Arizona History (published by Arizona Historical Society) are located in numerous libraries around the country. The major genealogical publication in the state is Copper State Journal, a publication of the Arizona State Genealogical Society.
The Arizona Historical Society has newspapers on microfilm for Arizona and surrounding states. The Arizona State Archives has a large microfilm collection of newspapers. The Arizona Newspaper Project is a cooperative effort with national organizations to locate, catalog, and microfilm newspapers. The Project is based at the Arizona State Library, Archives, and Public Records. Of the 1,520 newspapers identified, no issues for 136 of them have ever been found. A list of the newspapers that make up the Arizona Newspaper Project is on the Arizona State Library, Archives and Public Records website.
The most extensive collection of manuscript materials is at the Arizona State Archives and the Arizona State Historical Society.
In the recent past, much attention has been directed toward preserving, making accessible, and microfilming early Spanish and Mexican records. Manuscript collections of much of the material can be found at both repositories.
The Arizona State University Arizona Collection includes papers of politicians, family papers, labor and mining business papers, and collections for the American Indians. They have digitized some of their collections. One such collection being digitized and online is the Hayden Arizona Pioneer Biographies Collection.
