AIS Census Indexes - Schedules

Information found in U.S. Censuses varies from year to year. For a list of the questions asked in each census from 1790 to 1920, click here.

The National Archives can provide copies of specifically identified pages of Federal population census schedules, ordered by mail, using Form 82.

Information required for requests:

  • Name of individual listed
  • Page number
  • Census year
  • State and County
  • For the 1880 through 1920 censuses, also include the enumeration district.

    This information can frequently be found in census indexes. Check with your local genealogical library for more information.
