You must be Irish. You just lucked out again.
Did you know that Ancestry.com is the world’s largest online collection of family history resources? And just in time for St. Patrick’s Day, we’re giving you more reasons to celebrate your Irish heritage — two new historical record collections that can open doors to your family’s past.

An Index to Griffith’s Valuation, 1848-1864
Otherwise known as the Primary Valuation of Ireland, this collection is perhaps the greatest of all Irish genealogical resources. It survived the Great Famine to become the only living enumeration of the Irish population in the mid-19th century, just before much of the population emigrated to America.

Tithe Applotment Books, 1823-1838
Tithe was a tax payable on agricultural land to the established Protestant Church of Ireland during this time in history. Because of the destruction of most pre-1901 Irish Census Records, the Tithe Applotment Books are an important census substitute, listing about 40 percent of the country’s heads of household.
