Korean (Won): there are two Chinese characters for this
surname. Although there is some dispute, the founder of the Won
clan is believed by many to be Won Kyong, a Tang China scholar
sent to Shilla in the mid 7th century. The other Won character has
only one clan, the Wonju Won.
