Chinese : from the name of the Tu river, a tributary
of the Yangtze.Chinese : from one of the
characters in the name of the ancient city of Zoutu. The legendary
emperor Huang Di (2697–2595 bc) used this city as a
military base. Both characters of the city name, Zou (see Zou)
and Tu, were adopted as surnames.Chinese: variant of
Du.Vietnamese: unexplained.
