Tedder Family History

Tedder Name Meaning

English (Surrey): from the Middle English personal name Thedere Teddere which is either from the Old English personal name Thēodhere (from thēod ‘people’ + here ‘army’) or from the cognate ancient Germanic personal name Theudher which seems to have been adopted by the Normans. Alternatively perhaps it may be an occupational name from Middle English teddere ‘one who teds’ i.e. a person whose occupation was to spread mown grass for drying. Welsh: variant of Tudor .
