Ramus Name Meaning
German: possibly an altered form of Remus . Polish (also Ramuś): unexplained. Slovenian (Ramuš): nickname from archaic ramuš ‘noise roar’. Spanish and Portuguese: variant of Ramos . In some cases possibly also French: topographic name or nickname from Old French rame ‘branch’ or from the Old French adjective ramu ‘ramified full of branches’ of uncertain application (compare German Zweig ). As a topographic name it may have denoted someone who lived in a wooded place. See also Deramus .
