ghezzo ‘dark’ gloss for nero pallido?, with reference to
hair-, beard-, or skin-color. The term originally related to horses,
and in some cases the name may have alluded to the owner of an animal
of this color. Ghezzo is also recorded as a personal name, of
Germanic origin.
