Galway Family History
Galway Name Meaning
Irish: probably a variant of Scottish Galloway, rather than
a habitational name from the place of this name in southern
Connacht. During the Middle Ages Galways were wealthy merchants on the
south coast of Ireland, but now the name is largely confined to
Ulster.
