A Full House: Growing Up Italian by Rita Conti Harrison
has been published by Peter E. Randall Publisher. This is a fascinating memoir
of an Italian American woman growing up in a large family during the Great
Depression. Travel back to the early 1900s when Harrison’s mother, father,
aunts, and cousins arrived from Italy to carve out a new life in a small mill
town in Massachusetts. Harrison and her siblings learn of their parents’ native
land, through the cooking and sharing of delicious Italian food and their
mother’s singing of her native songs while doing laundry. Their "papa"
was a patriarch with a strong work ethic and a green thumb; much of what the
family ate was grown in his backyard garden. $15. www33.hway.net/perpub/per48.html
