Stuart Raymond in England is compiling a directory of Irish
Family History on the Web as a companion volume for his book, Family
History on the Web: a Directory for England & Wales, which is now
in its third printing. Stuart sent the following note:
The Web, as we all know, can be a valuable resource for genealogists,
but it can also be very frustrating, with very poor search engines throwing
up thousands of irrelevant references, badly designed gateways, and sometimes
great difficulty in finding the particular site required. I hope that my
directory will enable users to go directly to the sites they need.
I have trawled through numerous gateways and link pages to
identify all of the major and many of the less important sites. However,
it is likely that you and your readers will know of sites that I may have
missedparticularly those that are not listed on any search engine or
gateway. I would be grateful for any information on such sites, bearing
in mind that I will not be listing sites devoted to specific families/surnames.
And if anyone would like a copy when the book is published, let me know
that, too.
