The South Carolina Archives has announced that it will curtail
its Research Room hours beginning 16 April. The new hours are 8:45 a.m. to 4:45
p.m, Monday through Friday. There will no longer be any evening or weekend hours.
Previously the Archives Research Room was open Tuesday through Friday from 9
a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sundays from 1 p.m. to 6
p.m.
The South Carolina Genealogical Society is urging its membership
as well as others who patronize the South Carolina Archives to contact members
of the state’s General Assembly and ask that funding be restored.
