Tom Waldie, R.I.P.
In other sad news, Tom Waldie of Design Software died on 12 January 2002. Here is his obituary:

Tom Waldie 1940-2002

Tom Waldie, 61, owner-operator of Design Software, died 12 January 2002, in Burleson. Graveside service: 1 p.m. Thursday in Cleburne Memorial Cemetery, Cleburne. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Crosier-Pearson-Mayfield Funeral Home, Cleburne.

He was born in Cleburne on 6 December 1940, the son of Thomas and Hazel Waldie.

Survivors: Son, Tommy Waldie of Cleburne; stepson, David Benthasen of Crowley; daughters, Diane Waldie of Burleson and Deborah Waldie of Mannsville, Okla.; brother, Jimmie Waldie of Hurst; sister, Linda Clark of Argyle; and seven grandchildren.

Tom was the owner of Design Software and produced the computer programs "Aspen 2000 (Cemetery Funeral Home & Obituary Records)" and "Genealogy Charts & Forms 5.0." I have written reviews of both of these products in this newsletter within the past year. Those reviews are still available at http://www.ancestry.com/library/view/columns/eastman/4618.asp and at http://www.ancestry.com/library/view/columns/eastman/4521.asp.

Near the end of my article on "Genealogy Charts & Forms" I wrote, "Tom Waldie of Design Software is to be congratulated on this nice genealogy utility. I suspect that a lot of genealogists will consider purchasing Genealogy Charts & Forms Version 5.0."

Sadly, we have lost a very talented genealogy programmer.
