Margaret Ann Reinert, reference librarian and assistant branch
manager, North Independence Branch, Mid-Continent Public Library,
Independence, Missouri, is the 2001 recipient of the American
Library Association/Genealogical Publishing Co. Award. The
following is an extract from the ALA announcement:
Ann Reinert has been active in the leadership of the History
Section of the American Library Association for the past 25
years. She has chaired committees, given talks and been there
to help when needed.
The award, $1,500 and a citation donated by the Genealogical
Publishing Company, is given to encourage, recognize and
commend professional achievement in historical reference and
research librarianship.
"Margaret Ann Reinert has spent her professional career
graciously providing scholarly assistance to researchers and
exemplary counsel to her peers, earning the respect and
admiration of all who have contact with her. Of particular
interest to RUSA members is her on-going compilation of a
record of past events of the History Section and its various
committees," wrote Samuel J. Boldrick, award committee chair.
