I have one more suggestion to add for searching old newspapers. In
scanning old San Antonio newspapers, I noticed that sometimes the
only news of a local death would be a minute notice of a "Burial
Permit Issued," tucked inbetween ads, or other bits of local news.
The location in the papers for this type of information varies
widely, so I scan the whole paper carefully. This might be true of
newspapers in other areas, too.
