Newspaper Abstracts: Finding Our Ancestors in the News
http://www.newspaperabstracts.com/
This site, started by Barbara Freeman, is home to newspaper abstracts submitted by volunteers and categorized by location. Each county, state, and country's abstracts are coordinated by volunteers and broken down by year and then month. Currently, there are entries for Canada, Ireland, and the United States, and volunteers are being sought for contributions; coordinators are also being sought for each level. Finally, several mailing list options provide updates about new additions to the site.
Because of copyright law, the site only accepts U.S. entries prior to 1923 and pre-1800 entries from other countries. Learn how you can contribute old newspaper abstracts from your files.
