Directory Ads May Include Photos
In a recent Quick Tip, I read that you should not only look up the name you are researching when examining in a city directory, but that you should also look through the book at the churches and organizations listed for useful information. I find the ads in the back of the directory to be of interest also. One of my ancestors was a butcher who owned a meat market. While looking through the ad section of one directory for his ads, I found that many of the other advertisements contained photographs. I found the ad I was looking for, but unfortunately it did not contain a photo. Perhaps you’ll have better luck!
