The Center of Military History has a great Web site full of information. Some of the highlights are:

  • List of campaigns fought by the service (contains names of major battles and the dates they took place)
  • "Master List of Army Records" (gives a list of records available and the location of these records)
  • Medal of Honor Recipients (lists Medal of Honor recipients dating from the Civil War to the present and including the following information: Name, Rank, Organization, Place & Date of circumstances that earned them the honor; where they entered the service, date and/or place of birth, and a paragraph describing how the recipient won the citation)
