Jewish Genealogy Month
"The
two great myths of Jewish genealogical research are that no one remembers,
and all the records were destroyed in the Holocaust. Nothing could be
further from the truth."
Gary Mokotoff
Jewish Genealogy Month is April 6 - May 5. This year's
theme is "The Family Tree of the Jewish People." Caroline Guillot of the
French Jewish Genealogical Society, Gen Ami, has illustrated the theme
in a poster. The poster
shows a family tree that depicts all Jews as descendants from Abraham
and Sarah. The tree divides into four main branches of the Jewish people:
Ashkenazim, Sephardim, Oriental, and Ethiopian. Each branch then continues
with sub-branches of the Jewish people.
