Downloading an Online
Family Tree
The Online Family Tree allows you to download a GEDCOM file to your computer so you can modify it with your personal Family Tree software. To download an Online Family Tree, follow the instructions below:
- From the main Online Family
Tree page, locate the Online Family Tree you want to download.
- Click the Page icon located to the right of the name of the
Online Family Tree.
If you have already prepared the file for download, the icon will display
as a page with an arrow pointing down. If you have already prepared
the file for download, proceed to step four.
- After you click the page icon, it will temporarily change to a clock
icon. A confirmation window will display notifying you the file is ready
for downloading. Click OK. Note: The clock icon
has now changed to a download icon.
- Click the Download icon. A File Download window will display.
Note: If you are using Microsoft Internet Explorer, you
can right click the Download link and select Save Target As
from the drop down menu.
- Select Save this file to a disk and click OK. A Save
As window will display.
- Locate the directory in which you want to save the file on your computer
and enter the name of the file in the File Name field.
- Click Save. A download progress window will display. The GEDCOM file is now saved on your computer.
