Creating a MyFamily.com
Site
MyFamily.com provides free family Web sites. There is no limit to the number
of sites you can maintain. You will probably want to create individual Web
sites for both sides of your family. With the Universal Login feature, maintaining
multiple sites is quick and easy. You may also want your children to create
and maintain their own Web sites. Whatever your reasons are for creating multiple
sites, the process is simple and only takes a few minutes. Please note that
all of the information you provide to MyFamily.com is kept strictly confidential
and is not shared or sold to any third parties.
To create a free family Web site on MyFamily.com, follow the instructions
below:
- Click the Record navigation tab. The Preserve Your Heritage@Ancestry.com
page will display.
- Click the MyFamily.com section link. The MyFamily.com information
page will display.
- Scroll down and click the Create a new site right now!!! link.
The MyFamily.com sign-up page will display.
- Click the Create Your Site Now! button. The Site Setup page will
display.
- Click in the Please Name Your MyFamily.com Web site field and enter
the name of your Web site. This field is required.
- Click in the Last Name or Group Name for Your Site field and enter
the name of your Web site. This field is required.
- Click in the First Name field and enter your first name. This field
is required.
- Click in the Last Name field and enter your last name. This field
is required.
- Click in the E-mail field and enter your e-mail address. This field
is required.
- Click in the Please Tell Us How You Heard About Us field and select
how you heard about MyFamily.com from the drop-down menu.
- If you selected Other, click in the Please Specify field and enter
where you heard about MyFamily.com.
- Click in the Zip or Postal Code field and enter your code.
- Enter your date of birth in the Date of Birth fields.
- In the Gender field, indicate whether you are male or female by
clicking the circle next to your selection.
- Click the Create Site button. A Username and Password page will
display.
- Click in the Username field and enter the username you want to
use to login to your Web site. This field is required.
- Click in the Password field and enter the password you want to
use to login to your Web site. This field is required.
- Click in the Confirm Password field and enter your password again.
If the passwords do not match, you will be required to enter them again.
- If you want MyFamily.com to remember your username and password and automatically
log you on to your Web site when you access the Internet, click the box
next to the statement Yes, I would like MyFamily.com to remember my username
and password and automatically log me in when I visit the site.
- Before using MyFamily.com, you must agree to the User Agreement. Read
the User Agreement in the display window.
- Click the Next button. A free newsletter subscription page will
display.
- Click the boxes next to the free newsletters you wish to receive.
- Click the Save button. The Invite Members to Your Site page will
display.
- Enter the name, gender, e-mail address, and birthday of as many members
of your family as you like. MyFamily.com will send an e-mail invitation
to these new members on your behalf. The e-mail includes a temporary username
and password and explains how to access the site. If you want to invite
others to your site at a later date, you can do so from the Add Members
link in the Members area of your new family Web site.
- Click the Finish button. The final Site Setup page will display.
- From this page, you can choose to add more members, create a new site,
take the site tour, or go directly to your new family site. Just click the
respective link for your choice.
