Navigating the Home Page The Home tab provides the latest information about Ancestry.com and direct access to the most commonly used feature, Search. From the Home tab, you can view the free database selections that Ancestry.com has made available. You can also link to relevant news articles that are updated daily. The Home tab page is always changing, but the following sections remain constant:

Find Your Ancestors Now: This table provides direct access to the extensive databases contained at Ancestry.com. Enter the information in the appropriate fields and click the Search button to begin searching for your ancestors. You can also access the following popular databases from this section:

Ancestry World Tree

Social Security Death Index

Census Records

Periodicals and Newspapers

Military Records

You can access any of the above databases by clicking on the name of the database located below the search fields in the Find Your Ancestors NOW! box.

Right Navigation Bar: On the right side of the page, you will find a navigation bar that contains genealogy help. The sections stay the same, but the information in each section changes daily, so you should check these areas often to stay current on updates of enhancements to the site and on news in the genealogy field. The right navigation bar contains the following areas:

Today's New Databases: Each day, Ancestry.com provides free access to a set of featured databases. If a database displays in this list, you can access it for a free ten-day trial period by clicking on the name of the database.

Today's Daily News: This section contains tips and information on how to improve your productivity as a genealogist. Each day, new genealogy-oriented news items are posted. To access the information, click on the title of the news article.

Ancestry Resources: There are many resources available that make the job of finding elusive ancestors much easier. This section provides easy access to some of the most helpful resources. To view them, click on the name of the resource.

Home Page Features: The remainder of the Home page contains various points of interest for Ancestry.com users. These links are updated on a regular basis to provide users with timely site information.
