Takeda Name Meaning
Japanese: written 竹田 ‘bamboo rice paddy’ also 武田 ‘warrior rice paddy’. It is listed in the Shinsen shōjiroku. An alternate pronunciation is Taketa . The most famous Takeda family was descended from Minamoto no Yoshimitsu (1056–1127) and ruled several provinces most notably Kai (now Yamanashi prefecture). Other families such as Matsumae Nishina and Ogasawara are of Takeda descent.
