Radwell Name Meaning
from Radwell (Herts) or Radwell in Felmersham (Beds) both of which are recorded as Radeuuelle in 1086 and perhaps also from other places similarly named. The place-names derive from Old English rēad ‘red’ + wella ‘spring stream well’. perhaps occasionally from Middle English rid(de) wold (Old English (ge)ryd(d) wald) ‘cleared woodland’ denoting someone who lived in or near an area of cleared woodland.
