  1. Chinese : there are different accounts of the origin of Sha as a surname. Two accounts derive it from the Yi and Hu Chinese minorities around the time of the Tang dynasty (618–907). Two other accounts trace it back to individuals who had Sha as a part of their name.
  2. Indian: variant of Shah.
