Reaney and Wilson, however, derive the English name from Old French plomb ‘lead’ (Latin plumbum), regarding it as a metonymic occupational name for a plumber.
  2. German and Jewish (Ashkenazic): variant of Blum.
  3. Americanized form of Pflum.
