Hungarian: ethnic name for a Russian, orosz, from Turkish
urus, in turn derived from Russian Rusak ‘Russian’,
which owes its origin to a Scandinavian term meaning ‘oarsman’,
‘rower’ (a reference to the fact that the Russian state was first
established by Scandinavians who rowed their ships inland from the
Baltic sea).
