This is a picture of my mother, Violet Peterson, taken in 1918 on her parents’ ranch in Snyderville, Utah, about five miles from Park City. She was helping the crew during the haying season, and during a break having a little fun. She won a bet, proving she could throw Carl Miles over her shoulder. Mom had a horse named Phil, and helped with all the ranch work. This is my favorite picture of my mother.
