TalkSpot launches interactive genealogy talk show
|
TalkSpot's "Generations: Find Your Roots," the first web-interactive genealogy talk show, is making a big splash with online genealogists. It debuted with about 600 participants. It is webcast (a term for web broadcasting) from Bellevue, Washington on Saturdays from 4 to 6 p.m. (Pacific Time). The show's host, Elon Gasper, is an avid genealogist and senior designer responsible for the family heritage software line from Sierra Home http://www.sierra.com TalkSpot is the first project launched by Worldstream http://www.worldstream.com/ an innovative new Internet broadcast company that integrates the elements of radio talk shows with the interactive chat and multimedia features. It is a combination of an Internet "radio broadcast" via RealAudio, with a coordinated chat room, plus some extra bells and whistles. Like a radio talk show, you can just sit and listen in; like a television talk show, you can see the host and guests and other images; and at the same time listeners can type away in a chat room that everyone can see. You also can call in on 800 telephone number with questions and comments. Cyndi Howells of Cyndi's List fame http://www.cyndislist.com is a frequent guest and co-host. Two regular segments are RootsWeb Review http://www.rootsweb.com/~review/ co-editor Myra Vanderpool Gormley's "World RootsWeb Report" and "On the Road with Erin Wallace and Steve Sellers." Upcoming topics and guests slated to appear on shows in April include: April 10: "What Every Genealogist Should Know" and "Finding Your Immigrant Ancestors," with Accredited Genealogist Karen Clifford If your computer is not equipped with RealPlayer, go to the RealPlayer website at http://www.real.com/products/player/demos Click on RealPlayer G2.
